Building on CAPS Filmmaking

Austin Jacobson graduated from CAPS in May of 2014.  He spent two of his four semesters at CAPS in Filmmaking.  Austin  graduated Summa Cum Laude from John Paul the Great Catholic University in Escondido, California, on September 1, 2017.  John Paul the Great is a year-round school that offers degrees in communications media, business, and theology.  Austin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications Media with an emphasis in Directing and Film Production.

Austin also was the recipient of the prestigious  “Founder’s Award for Impacting Culture,” which recognizes the graduating senior whose work most exemplifies the original mission of the founders of the University and shows significant cultural engagement on critical issues of our time.  Dr. Derry Connolly, President and University Founder, presented the award.  Austin served in the student government for two years, studied abroad in London, Ireland and Rome, completed an internship in Los Angeles, and performed a variety of roles in numerous films during his time at the University.

Austin shared, “The experience at CAPS provided the opportunity to explore my interests in a career-oriented setting and discover a passion for my current career path.”  Austin is working remotely for the digital marketing company Yellow Line Digital while living with locals in Lima, Peru.  Following that Spanish immersion opportunity, Austin will return to the States and begin his job in January 2018 with Houston-based Paradisus Dei as the Director of Media Operations where he will be overseeing and spearheading all media production.
