Mutimedia Journalism: An evening of fashion!

For four nights at the end of September, Multimedia Journalism students had the privilege of being the “official videographer” of the fall edition of Kansas City Fashion Week. From Wednesday through Saturday evening, students captured every bit of runway footage that would later be edited and delivered to the KCFW officials.

In addition to the runway footage, CAPS students videotaped short interviews at the “Media Lounge” where local and national designers were interviewed by Kansas City celebrities. These segments were also edited and quickly presented to our partners from Fashion Week for exposure on social media outlets.

As an added bonus this year, CAPS Multimedia Journalism students and CAPS Digital Design and Photography students were given full access from the KCFW staff to take photographs in the pit, where they would be side-by-side with professional photographers.

These photos were presented to KCFW on-site for a live digital board that recapped the events of the evening. Students in both classes also edited several hundred photos using Adobe Lightroom for delivery to our client.

Both classes are hoping to participate again this Spring when Kansas City Fashion Week returns March 27th through the 30th, 2019!
