Teacher Education students return to the classroom

NEA’s American Education Week (AEW) spotlights the importance of providing every child in America with a quality public education. In a 2016 national survey of college freshmen, the number of students who say they will major in education has reached its lowest point in 45 years. At CAPS, Tammy Estes Fry is working to reverse that trend with her Teacher Education program. In the 2011 NCEI survey, 60% of all public school teachers who went through traditional taecher education programs for their undergraduate work, reported that they ended up teaching within 150 miles of where they were born. This statistic illustrates the importance of developing a robust entry-to-profession program like the one at CAPS.

The CAPS Teacher Education program introduces students to the classroom early and often, giving them a powerful leg-up as they launch into their undergraduate work. Below is a list of where some of our CAPS Teacher Educaiton alumni are now teaching.
