Innovation Celebration shatters previous records!

Students set a new high water mark with the 2018 Innovation Celebration raising over $76K to support student programming. Starting in September, students embarked on a complete redesign of CAPS signature event. They changed the format of the event to include students from throughout CAPS and moved to the Hilltop Conference Center. This change allowed them to expand the guest list to include students, parents, and business partners.

CAPSTalks were another new event feature. Modeled after the popular TEDTalks, CAPSTalks were open to all students. Students participated in a preliminary round of competition for the chance to represent their strand at the Innovation Celebration. The Global Business team solicited sponsors for each strand CAPSTalk. The initial goal was to award one $5,000 scholarship, but based on fundraising success, they were able to award $8,000 in scholarships.

The overall winner was the team representing engineering. Team members included Anna Preuss, Becca Cannon and Caroline Streb. Other CAPSTalk scholarship recipients were Hyogi Yeon, Christian Hansen, Ashley Jacobson, Ashmika Behere, Matthias Roening, and Neeha Kothopolli.

Congratulations to event chairman Emily Oades, Pia Riveros, and Nathan Adams. They were joined by steering committee members Davis Bloom, Jourdan Dunlap, Emily Myers, Andrew Ott, Annie Overman, and Julia Shyver. The event would not be possible without the guidance and support of Samantha Hammontree and the Weiner Family Foundation.
