Exploring Health Professions is designed for all students considering a career in healthcare. Students will examine the five healthcare career pathways [therapeutic services, diagnostic services, support services, health informatics, and biotechnology research] through relevant community health issues. This course serves as an introduction to public health, with a particular focus on the Healthy People 2030 goals and the healthcare careers that impact them. Emphasis will be placed on the One Health perspective: the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health.
During their career investigations, students will enhance their professional skills through networking opportunities, which may include guest speakers, professional observations, and site visits.
Professional observations will take place on a limited basis and require the following:
1) Background check, 2) TB screen, 3) Drug Screen, and 3) Up-to-Date Vaccinations
